Here we have a great song for tightening up one of the first dum grooves you will learn as a beginner at McBain Music School. This groove is relentless and needs to be tightly locked in with the bass guitar. This song has definitely been recorded along to a click track back before the days where a producer can now simply quantise the drums to sit perfectly in time. One of the challenging parts of this song is the open and closed hi-hats in the chorus which can throw the timing off by either speeding up slowing down. With some careful guidance and separate hi hat control exercises that I have devised it is more than achievable to keep the open and closed groove locked in.
